The Ryugyong Hotel is an unfinished 105-storey pyramid-shaped skyscraper in Pyongyang, North Korea.
Development started in 1987 however was ended in 1992 as North Korea entered a time of financial emergency after the fall of the Soviet Union. After 1992 the building stood topped out, however with no windows or inside fittings. In 2008 development continued, and the outside was finished in 2011. It was wanted to open the inn in 2012, the centennial of Kim Il-sung’s introduction to the world, yet this didn’t happen. An incomplete opening was reported for 2013, however this was likewise scratched off. In 2016, the building stayed unopened.
