Indians spend nearly 8 billion hours watching movies in a theater every year, with 85 tickets sold every second! This is greater than the rest of the top 5 countries combined.
The US is able to sell 1.36 billion tickets every year, which is inclusive of their overseas sales. In India, with most of the tickets being sold domestically, the ticket volumes are twice as much at 2.7 billion! It is the number one movie industry on the planet, and there are 1,602 films produced a year, 4 times as much as the US!
I don’t even want to estimate the GDP impact, haha. I am hoping going to two movies on average per person (including everybody in the country!) makes us more productive every year.
