China told Ajit Doval - Without any condition, India removes its army from Doklam

China said on Wednesday that it has conveyed to India its stance that it should take concrete action without any condition to remove its army from Doklam in Sikkim immediately without ending its current deadlock. While giving the first round of the meeting between the National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi on July 28, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said that both the officials discussed BRICS cooperation, bilateral relations and relevant key issues. Doval was in Beijing last month to participate in BRICS, Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa’s shared platform BRICS.

Doval and Yang are also special representatives for border talks between India and China. China’s Foreign Ministry wrote in a written reply to a question about the discussion between the two countries on the deadlock related to the Doklam: Yang gave a bilateral meeting with Doval on her insistence and in accordance with the manner in which it was done. The stalemate at Doklam began when China began to make roads in that area.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry indicated that there was no major progress during negotiations between Doval and Yang. The Ministry said, “Yang Jiechi expressed China’s tough stand and clear mandate on the encroachment of the Indian Border Force in China’s territory on the Sikkim section of the China-India border.” India’s stand on this issue was last month when Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj had made clear. While advocating peaceful settlement of the deadlock on the border, he said that in order to initiate a dialogue on this, both the parties should first remove their own forces.

India has also informed the Chinese government that due to road construction in the area there will be significant changes in the status quo with serious safety implications. The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that in a dialogue with Doval, Yang urged India to respect the basic rules and regulations governing China’s regional sovereignty, international law and international relations, and without any conditions added to the encroachment of Indian Border forces Call back to the Indian government and solve the current case with concrete actions.
