The Congress criticized the decision of Vice President Naidu for rejecting the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Deepak Mishra. Congress Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal has said that the Congress will go against this decision in the Supreme Court. The party says that Vice President has dismissed the proposal in very hasty manner. He did not even consult an expert for this.
Congress spokesman Randeep Surjewala said: “Rajya Sabha’s Chairman cannot take a decision on the proposal because He does not have the right to determine the eligibility of the proposal.”
The Congress spokesman further said, “As the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha was told that if all the allegations have to be proved before in the inquiry, then there will be no need for the Constitution and Judge (Enquiry) Act.”
Congress and six opposition parties on Friday gave notice of removal of Chief Justice Deepak Mishra on the basis of misbehavior. This is the first time that such a proposal has been brought against the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.
