Hardly 10 days prior to the start of the Olympics, India encountered a huge embarrassment as 74kg freestyle wrestler Narsingh Yadav failed a dope test carried out by NADA, a development that has cast question on his participation in Rio Games.
National Anti-Doping Director General Navin Agarwal affirmed that Narsingh’s ‘B’ sample also examined positive for a prohibited steroid. He made an appearance before a NADA disciplinary board on Saturday.
Narsingh was chosen for the Rio Olympics in questionable circumstances as two times Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar had also secured his claim to represent the country in 74kg freestyle.
