The central government is planning to provide employment to 5 crore rural women in the next five years by promoting khadi. This information was given by Union Minister Giriraj Singh.
Addressing a program organized at Khadhi Bhawan on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Singh said, “After calling Prime Minister Narendra Modi a ‘Khadi for Fashion’, the Ministry has planned to connect five crore rural women with charkhas.” He said, After the appeal of PM Modi, Khadi is now popular among the youth too.
The Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said, “At one time Khadi was used by grandfather (from the elderly people) or Netaji (politicians), but after the appeal made by our Prime Minister, now Khadi has become a ‘fashion’ Trend .
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a new identity of Khadi. The previous governments could increase the sale of khadi by upto 70 percent in 10 years, but we have increased it by 90 percent. “On the charkha, which runs solar energy, Singh said that about five crore rural women will be employed in the coming five years.”
