If the PAN Card is linked to Aadhaar by 31 March 2020, the Income Tax Department says It will become inactive.
According to the report, the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) stated,’ Where a person who received a PAN card by 1 July 2017 and received his Aadhaar number under subsection 2 of section 139AA, is required to add. If the person does not add the PAN card until the last time-limit, it will become inactive under the Act. It was said that you will be responsible for all things under the I-T Act if your PAN is inactive. You have to provide the tax authorities with your adhaar number.
The PAN-Aadhaar linking deadline has been extended eight times. The previous deadline was December 31, 2019. According to the government rule, it is mandatory for those individuals who have a PAN card to link their PAN card to the Aadhaar card. If you have not linked the PAN card to the Aadhaar card, then your PAN card will not be accepted and it will be of no use.
Know, How to link your PAN card to your Aadhaar card
Step 1: Link Aadhaar
First of all, you have to go to the e-Filing website of the Income Tax Department www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. After visiting the website, you will see the option of ‘Link Aadhaar’ on the left side, click on it. Now a window will open in front of you.
Step 2: Provide information
After the window opens, you have to write your PAN number, Aadhaar number, and your name in your Aadhaar card.
Step 3: Date Of Birth
In the next option, you will see the option of ‘I Have Only Year Of Birth In Aadhaar Card’, if your entire date of birth is written in your Aadhaar card then do not tick it and if only Birth Year is written then this option Tick it.
Step 4: OTP
After typing the name, now fill the captcha code, if you have selected the option of captcha code, then do not write OTP, you can select one of the captcha code or OTP.
Step 5: Go to Link Aadhar
Now an OTP will come on the mobile number and email ID which is written in the OTP box. After this click on ‘Link Aadhar’, the PAN card will be linked to your Aadhaar card as soon as you click.
