India on Tuesday successfully test-fired indigenously developed nuclear-capable intermediate range Agni-I ballistic missile from Odisha coast.
Weighing 12 tons, the 15-metre-long Agni-I indigenously-built, intermediate range missile is capable of striking a target 700 km’s away and was a part of a user trial by the Army.
The surface-to-surface, single-stage missile, powered by solid propellants, was test-fired from a mobile launcher from the Integrated Test Range.
Agni-I missile is outfitted with the sophisticated routing system which guarantees it gets to the target with a great degree of accuracy and preciseness.
The missile, which has currently been inducted into armed forces, has proven its outstanding efficiency with regards to range, accuracy, and lethality.
Agni-I, is developed to carry a payload of more than one ton. Its strike range can be extended by reducing the payload.
