A bandh has been called in Mandya district of southern Karnataka on Tuesday by farmers and pro-Kannada outfit activists to demonstrate in opposition to the Supreme Court instruction asking the state to discharge 15,000 cusecs of water per day for up coming ten days to Tamil Nadu.
Protests broke out in other parts of Karnataka including Chamrajnagar, Mysuru and Hubballi with farmers
The farmers’ leader also cautioned the government that it would face a strong agitation if water was released to Tamil Nadu.
