India won their third successive Kabaddi World Cup title beating Iran. Days later a touching incident from the 2014 Incheon Asian Games reemerged.
India played Iran in the women’s kabaddi final at the 2014 Asiad. Indian girls, as expected, started as the favorites and won the gold medal match convincingly by beating their Iranian opponents 31-21, after leading 15-11 at half-time.
But that match will always be remembered for Indian team’s sportsmanship and brilliant gesture towards their opponents. While in the second half, an Iranian raider found herself tackle hard by the Indians, and in the process, displaced her ‘Hijab’.Then, the Indian team, instead of pursuing with the game, stopped the proceedings to help their opponent. They circled her and allowed her to put it back.
Winning a game is not that big a deal but winning your opponent’s heart and respect is.
