In the newest case of religious extremism, some Muslim clerics have conveyed their displeasure towards the likes of the aspiring singer Nahid Afrin via the circulation of a pamphlet. Afrin, who went up to popularity after obtaining the 1st runner-up position in reality Show on tv The Indian Idol, continues to be cycling high on achievements since then. She even made her very first as a playback singer in Bollywood in 2016 with the film ‘Akira’. On the other hand, this pamphlet was soon misconstrued as a ‘fatwa’ by the most number of people, and it induced a huge row on the social media websites.
From the time the reports of such a limitation being enforced on the singer broke, individuals have show up in support of Afrin. From public figures to commoners, all are seen showing their love and support for the artist.
The Chief Minister of Assam, Sarbananda Sonowal posted two tweets condemning such acts and also encouraging the singer.
We strongly condemn putting restrictions on performance by young talented singer Nahid Afrin by some organisations.
