Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar, the brightest Ratna in Cabinet: PM Narendra Modi
During the foundation-laying ceremony of the airport at Mopa, the PM said, “When we speak of Akbar, we speak of his Navaratna (nine jewels), whose expertise Akbar sought to run the administration. I am lucky to have so many gems on my team, and Manohar Parrikar is among the brightest of them.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked Goa for sparing its former chief minister for the Union government. “As chief minister of Gujarat I used to monitor development schemes introduced by Parrikar in the state…Unlike earlier governments with uncertain political tenure, Parrikar brought a stable administration and a change in the political culture of the state,” he said.
“If not for the unrelenting efforts of Manohar Parrikar, the 40-year old demand for One Rank One Pension would have been pending… We are progressing very fast… taking very important decisions (on national security). Not one person can point fingers at Parrikar. I congratulate him and thank Goa for giving us such an able colleague,” the PM Modi Said.
