A day before the presidential election, Congress President Sonia Gandhi has described this election as a fight against ‘narrow, divisive and communal vision’. Addressing Opposition Leaders in the presence of the Opposition candidates – Meira Kumar and Gopal Krishna Gandhi – for the President and Vice-President, Sonia said that the numbers may be against them, but the fight will be fought and fought fiercely.
Sonia said, ‘We can not allow India to become hostage to such people who want to impose a narrow, divisive and communal view on it.’ According to the written version of the speech of the Congress President, he said, “We have to be the most vigilant now who we are, how we fight for our freedom struggle and what future we want for ourselves.”
The Congress President said, “We must have faith in the values we believe in. This election is a conflict of ideas, conflict of unequal values. This election demands to vote on conscience, so that India can be saved for which Mahatma (Gandhi) and freedom fighters, which had thousands of common men and women, fought.
