Artist Daisy Watson designs dreamy tattoos inspired by modern art. Based in surrealism, her pieces replicate the avant-garde visual of iconic artists like Pablo Picasso, Jean Cocteau, and Jean Arp. Broken forms, trial compositions, and curved lines work jointly to carry these simply-drawn surrealist tattoos to life.
Watson works in a minimalist style, using only thin lines and black ink as her medium. At first look, each small tattoo may look like a moderate illustration. Nevertheless, upon deeper inspection, one can’t help but be captivated by the creative iconography and optically puzzling figures. Mixing features from Picasso’s inked portraits, Cocteau’s line drawings, and Arp’s use of organic shapes, the creations are both entirely original and familiar.
Each unique creation starts as a sketch, which is then tattooed onto Watson’s clients’ skin.
