Rupani was selected for the state’s CM by BJP Gujarat MLAs at a meeting on Friday. The meeting was held in the presence of BJP president Amit Shah and Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari as observers.
Right after the meeting, Nitin Gadkari announced that Rupani will be the new Chief Minister of Gujarat.
The new CM selection happens after days of questions over whether Amit Shah would take control as the Chief Minister. However, it was cleared on Wednesday when senior leader Venkaiah Naidu said that Amit Shah would carry on in his national role.
Gadkari stated that Anandiben proposed the name of the Rupani as CM and Nitin Patel’s deputy, which was accepted.
